The R2 Crown
RUGBY WORLD CUP
New Zealand

The Rugby World Cup is the premier international rugby union competition. The inaugural tournament was held in 1987, hosted by both Australia and New Zealand. The tournament is one of the largest international sporting competitions in the world.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup is the seventh Rugby World Cup and New Zealand is selected as the host country. It is the largest sporting event ever held in New Zealand and remains a great challenge to the South African Team to meet their rival, the All Black Team again.

The inscription on the 2011 R2 Crown portrays history when South Africa made its debut in 1995 and won the World Cup which is now remembered as one of the greatest moments in South Africa’s sporting history. South Africa regained their title as champions 12 years later against England in the 2007 final at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris.

The 2011 R2 Crown portrays a player with a rugby ball in his hand. The emblem of South Africa’s national rugby team (also known as the Springboks) features the Springbok and the Protea which is portrayed on the left hand side. The offcial Rugby World Cup 2011 logo on the right hand side above the denomination denotes the host nation, in this case, New Zealand.
