Former Die SinkersChief Die-Sinker: Arthur SutherlandArthur Sutherland has been with the Mint since 1963. He has modelled many die designs over the years. Amongst the many are the obverses for the current circulation coins as well as the reverse of the R5, R2 and 2 cent. He has modelled all the obverses of 2000 numismatic coins except for the 2½c tickey (which was modelled by Kruger Gray). Arthur Sutherland is the "father" of all the die-sinkers and is said to be the best modeller at present. He has an interest in "Ford" in general. Arthur is a Manchester United supporter, but truly supports Coca-Cola on a daily basis! His love for Scotland keeps him visiting that country regularly. P Botes Paul Botes has a keen interest in architecture. He loves computers, radio control cars, as well as the bigger type, Formula 1 racing. J Steyn Johan Steyn has deep love for batik art and sculpting. He also loves working with metal. The manufacture of swords fascinates him but he also finds people very interesting. Current Die-Sinkers Interests: M J Scheepers Thinus Scheepers has an interest in art, music, palaeontology, history and above all, Harley Davidsons. C Moses Cecil Moses has a great love for music. He plays drums and the guitar. He love high-speed motorcycles and also has a keen interest in gemstones. A Minnie Aldrid Minnie loves sculpting. He has a great interest in welding technology. He is a police reservist helping the police over weekends which fires his great interest in firearms. |
