In 2006, the South African Mint Company entered into a joint project with the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT). The Mint has created a special 15-piece sterling silver medallion set, called “The Natural Heritage Prestige Set” and has undertaken to donate a R50 of the earnings from the sale of each of these medallions to the EWT. These donations will assist EWT's working groups in their work to conserve species and ecosystems
in southern Africa which has become endangered due to human interference.

A very special wooden box has been developed to house these beautiful 15 medallions. The medallions can also be bought as singles. This unique and impressive collection is not only aesthetically pleasing to look at, but also offers the buyer an opportunity to support a very worthy cause.

Single Silver Medallions

Limited Edition: 500 for each series

Each single sterling silver crown size medallion is packaged in a dark blue or black leatherette box. Each medallion issued has an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity. This Certificate of Authenticity guarantees the quality and authenticity of the coin made by the South African Mint Company.

Certificate of Authenticity

Each medallion and medallion set issued by the South African Mint Company has a Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate describes the medallions’s specifications, the limited edition as well as a short description of the product. It also depicts the signature of the South African Mint’s Managing Director, Mr Andile Mvinjelwa. To prevent the duplication of a South African Mint product, the certificates are re-designed each year to include the coin design and each certificate is individuallynumbered according to the limited edition of the medallion or set. As another security measure, the South African Mint’s logo, which is printed in transparent ink and only visible under ultra-violet light, features as part of the layout.
