The South African Mint Company (RF) (Pty) Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) in accordance with the SARB Act 90 of 1989, as amended.

With over 120 years of experience in producing coins and coin products, we have established ourselves as the continent’s leading manufacturer of legal tender circulation, bullion, as well as commemorative and rare, collectable coins.

OUR CORE

The primary focus of our business is the production of circulation or currency coins.

The Mint employs state-of-the-art technology to produce circulation coins for South Africa and a number of countries around the world, in metals including copper, brass, nickel, aluminium, bronze, stainless steel and electroplated steel.

We support the beneficiation of South African precious metals through our bullion and rare collectable coin business units. Our flagship bullion brand is the Krugerrand, the world’s first and most widely-traded bullion coin.

Our collectable coin business is focused on the production and sale of limited-edition, collectable coins. These are made from a variety of precious and non-precious metals, including platinum, gold and silver.
